Mayhem and Mischief Take Center Stage in The Play That Goes Wrong at The Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah – May 28, 2025
What happens when an amateur theater troupe attempts a murder mystery well beyond their capabilities? Total, glorious chaos. This Summer, The Play That Goes Wrong will turn catastrophe into comedy at The Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater.
The Play That Goes Wrong follows the earnest attempts of the Cornley Drama Society to stage a 1920s murder mystery. As the opening night unfolds, so do a litany of disastrous (and side-splitting) mishaps: forgotten lines, misplaced props, collapsing sets, and actors who just won’t stay down.
Featuring one of the most intricate set designs in theater history, and a cast of both familiar and new faces, there’s plenty for audiences to be excited about.
“The Play That Goes Wrong celebrates everything we adore about being on stage, including the mishaps…or perhaps especially the mishaps,” said director Barta Heiner. “Our cast has embraced the physical comedy and timing it takes to pull off a show that’s intentionally falling apart, and they’re having a blast. It’s a show for theater lovers and first-timers alike.”
Winner of the 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, this high-energy West End and Broadway smash hit is a love letter to live theater, and to every actor who’s ever soldiered on through the unexpected.
Performances run May 30 through August 16 in the Lindsay Legacy Theater at The Ruth at doTERRA in Pleasant Grove. Don’t miss this perfect summer comedy, and the chance to experience an unforgettable night of laughter at The Ruth.
