On August 16, 2025, The Plaza at America First Field in Sandy, Utah, hosted one of the most feel-good lineups of the summer as Simple Plan’s Bigger Than You Think! Tour rolled through with openers LØLØ, 3OH!3, and Bowling for Soup. Against the backdrop of Utah’s mountains, a glowing sunset, and the stadium plaza alive with families, longtime fans, and new faces alike, the night was filled with laughter, nostalgia, and heartfelt moments.

LØLØ

The evening kicked off with Canadian singer-songwriter LØLØ (Lauren Mandel), who wasted no time grabbing the crowd’s attention with her lyrics, stage presence, and cheeky banter. Her set included fan favorites like “u turn me on (but u give me depression),” “The Devil Wears Converse,” and “Hot Girls in Hell.” She also surprised the audience with a playful cover of Icona Pop’s “I Love It.”

The weather added its own drama to her performance. Warm rain fell across the venue while strong winds knocked over her mic stand. At one point, LØLØ laughed, “Maybe one day this will be as iconic as the Goo Goo Dolls’ ‘Iris’ rain performance!” Later, in one of the most unfiltered lines of the night, she shouted, “Utah, you make me wet!” Her three-piece band capped the set with a collective bow, cementing themselves as one of the highlights of the night’s early energy.

3OH!3

Next up were Colorado’s own Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte of 3OH!3. Who leaned all the way into their goofy, provocative, and over-the-top energy. Channeling what felt like “fun drunk uncle” vibes, their set was sweaty, playful, and self-aware in the best way.

From start to finish, they had the crowd moving, laughing, and singing along to their infamous hooks. They closed with their breakout hit “DONTTRUSTME.” The kind of track that instantly transports fans back to the late 2000s era of neon-colored party anthems.

Bowling for Soup

When Bowling for Soup hit the stage, they made sure no one forgot they’ve been writing pop-punk since their high school days. Joking about performing songs they wrote as teens while now being guys in their 40s. Their mix of humor and heart carried through the entire set. Especially with the Phineas and Ferb theme song, which earned a huge reaction (especially when they spotted a fan rocking a Perry the Platypus hat).

They also pulled out “Turbulence,” a more reflective track reminding everyone that sometimes life’s bumps are just “a little turbulence.” But it wasn’t long before the goofiness took over again. Mid-set, the band had “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” blasting over the speakers as they posed dramatically on stage, cracking jokes about the golden-hour lighting being perfect for a boyband moment.

One of the funniest highlights came when a fan handed over their phone. The band filmed themselves singing “Backstreet’s Back, alright!” into it before tossing it back into the crowd.

With the mountains glowing in the sunset behind them, Bowling for Soup were gracious and full of gratitude. Hinting at new music coming next year while still delivering all-time favorites like “1985.” The crowd went wild. Kids and parents danced side by side, and the band reminded everyone why they’ve been pop-punk staples for decades.

Simple Plan

By the time Simple Plan took the stage, the energy was at a peak. A massive banner with the band’s logo, confetti bursts, and cryo smoke set the tone for their headlining set. Fans had already spotted them sneaking toward the stage earlier, which only built the anticipation.

The band opened with a nostalgic punch, reminding everyone why they’ve been fan favorites for over 20 years. “I’m Addicted to You,” “Welcome to My Life,” and “Astronaut” had the crowd singing in unison, flashlights waving in the air for the slower moments. At one point, the band noticed a birthday sign in the crowd and sang a special “Happy Birthday” to a fan named Zach, calling out, “Happy freaking birthday Zach, you are amazing!”

One of the most unforgettable moments came when the band rolled out a massive yellow beach ball with their name on it, soon followed by dozens more giant, colorful beach balls launched into the crowd. Lit by the stage lights, they bounced across fans’ heads as the band ripped through their setlist—turning the plaza into a full-on beach party.

Midway through, they moved to a B-stage for an intimate performance of “Untitled (How Could This Happen to Me?),” with singer Pierre Bouvier illuminated in one spotlight while Sébastien and Jeff played from the main stage. Drummer Chuck Comeau got his own shining moment with a solo, met with thunderous applause.

Before wrapping up, the band expressed how much the night meant to them, sharing: “This is the biggest headlining show in Utah for our band ever, so thank you!” That sentiment hung in the warm night air, echoing what so many fans felt – a celebration of two decades of music, community, and the timeless joy of pop-punk.
