The Ogden Twilight Concert Series is something that everyone looks forward to each summer. With the second show in for the series, Disclosure was set to play a DJ set at Ogden Amphitheater. With a unique setup, filled with bleachers, a lawn area, and a front VIP seating section, the Ogden Amphitheater is a place for everyone to come and listen to live events. For the Disclosure show, it hosted anyone from young couples, friend groups, to full families.

Starting off the night was a local DJ by the name of Goyk. Based in Ogden, Utah, Goyk had a great energy to the crowd entering the show. Though people were getting settled in, it was impossible not to get your body moving to the tracks spinning from the stage. At this point, as there was so much room to move around the grass, Goyk had people dancing their hearts out and taking up all the room they could. Even though the show had just begun, it felt as though the crowd was full for our very own DJ from Ogden City. Goyk had an amazing energy and I would love to see him play a full DJ set at places like the Saltaire or even the Complex.

1tbsp

With one of the smoothest transitions of performers on stage I have ever seen, 1tbsp took over the stage with a DJ set of his own. The transition was so perfect, that the music didn’t even stop, and the crowd just kept on moving. All the way from Brisbane, Australia, 1tbsp kept the energy of the crowd all the way up. The dance music playing from the stage seemed to sync up with everyone in attendance, as the dance moves I witnessed were entrancing when it combined with the sounds. All of the energy coming from the crowd and the music from the stage didn’t slow anyone down in the slightest, even in the hot June heat.

As 1tbsp came to an end, there was finally a break in the music for people to grab food, drinks or just to take a break from moving to the music. 1tbsp was the perfect amount of energy needed to warm the crowd up and he would be perfect for one of our EDM festivals that we have at the Saltaire during the summers.

Ogden Twilight Crowd

Before we get to our headliner for the night, the crowd needs to be talked about. From the dance moves to the fits, to the laughs and smiles, this Ogden Amphitheater crowd was serving all sorts of looks at this show. If you are a fan of people-watching, then you need to attend a DJ show at Ogden Amphitheater. Some people would show up in full rave attire, where some were wearing bright colors with fur hats.

One thing that was very noticeable about the crowd was the amount of giant hand fans that people had, which added to the color of the ocean of people. It was an art in and of itself with the amount of people expressing themselves through their clothing and dancing. The fashion alone added to the vibes and feelings coming from this show, and it will be a big reason why I go back to see another DJ set.

Back to our performers, it was finally time for Disclosure to take the stage and spin some tracks for the crowd. Though Disclosure is a pop duo from the UK, only half of the duo took the stage for this DJ set. With a break in the sound, the crowd was ready to get back to dancing their hearts out, and the amphitheater was as full as it had been all night. The music began again, and everyone was instantly hit with the energy from the sounds. Not only was it the energy, but the bass was strong enough to make anyone feel their hearts vibrate.

As the night grew darker and darker, the lights became cooler and brighter. Mixing perfectly with the music being produced on stage, the light show was enough to have anyone hypnotized. It was cool to see the different lights being used to create a visual performance for the DJ set.

Throughout the night, Disclosure would play both originally created music, and mixed music of other artists. At one point in the night, he played an unreleased song, stating that he “could get in trouble” for playing it. The crowd absolutely loved everything coming from the stage. While a normal show has a crowd of people singing lyrics back to the band or artist playing on the stage, Disclosure had a crowd that danced back to the stage. It seems that the music took over everyone’s bodies and just ran wild with it, leaving everyone creating performative dances uncontrollably.

As the night was coming to an end, it was clear that Disclosure knew how to work a crowd with a turntable. The Ogden Amphitheater was a fantastic place for fans of all ages to enjoy the music of Disclosure. I would love to see another Disclosure set at the Saltaire for one of our fantastic EDM festivals that happens at the outdoor stages during the summer. This was such a great show, and I can’t wait to see the next time Disclosure comes back to Utah.
