It’s no surprise that Logic is one of the biggest rappers in the game at the moment. Everywhere you go, you can hear someone listening to him. So it was no surprise when I got to the Maverik Center that the line from the door was wrapping down the stairs and around the arena. Fans of all ages stood in line with friends, bumping Logic on their speakers. You can tell everyone was getting hyped. Once doors opened, the merchandise stand flooded, so did the concession stands. Everyone that had GA tickets rushed the floor to get a good spot and as close to the stage as possible. The nice thing about arena concerts if you’re not GA is that you can still walk around, get comfortable, grab some food to eat, get your merch and just head to your seats when the show starts. But even if you are GA, it’s such a large floor, you’re bound to get a good start.
Once the lights shut off and the arena was illuminated by a deep red light and the crowd went crazy. Logic walked out on stage and instantly the crowd was wild and it stayed like that for the remainder of the show. “Everybody” was the second song he played and you could hear everyone rap along every word with him. The cool thing about Logic too is how interactive with the crowd he is. At one point in the concert, a fan yelled, “give me your shirt!” And Logic literally took the shirt off his back and threw it to the crowd. Logic laughed and said, “see, Logic loves his fans so much, he’ll literally give you the shirt off his back,”
I didn’t know Logic was such a comedian. He was cracking jokes the whole time and making the whole arena laugh. It’s always amazing when artists take time from their set to just talk to the fans. Especially since this was a large arena show, that didn’t stop him from making it feel pretty personal. He shared stories in between songs and always asked the crowd how they were doing and if they were still vibing with him.
One story that particularly stood out to me was about a young kid who had been following Logic since he first started. He was a young boy that would go to all his shows, hype him up, and told him he wanted to be a rapper too. The young boy would send Logic raps he wrote and every year he was getting better and better. And once he was 18, Logic signed him to his record. The rapper’s name was Silas, and after telling that story, he brought Silas out. They performed the song “These Days” which is a Silas song ft. Logic. That story was super inspirational and I think a very humble thing of Logic to do. He seems like a very wise, funny, nice guy that you could just be best friends with. That’s how he made the crowd feel and it was awesome.
Towards the end of the show, Logic covered the famous “Apache” song and got the whole crowd doing the jump dance. The whole show honestly was one big party. It also got really hot! But it was worth it. He closed off with “1-800-273-8255” which is the song for suicide prevention. It’s always an emotional one. And ended the whole concert with a favorite, “Everday”
SLC fans really brought all their energy and he brought it back. It was an amazing show.
