X Ambassadors • Delacey • September 12, 2025 • The Depot

X Ambassadors brought their VHS anniversary tour to The Depot and the SLC crowd. Delacey opened for them. Utah is always welcoming of X Ambassadors. They’ve played some great shows at The Depot in the past. This show is another one added to the list of great SLC shows with X Ambassadors.

Delacey

The angelic Delacey came onto stage with an ethereal presence and said, “I’m Delacey for those of you who don’t know me. I’ve never performed in Utah before; this is my first time! It’s really exciting, and you guys are really special because you are my first audience ever in Utah. We’re going to play a couple of songs for you tonight, and I’m so happy to be here. Thank you for those of you who showed up early to come see me.”. Delacey’s voice was reminiscent of Lana Del Ray, and it was clear that the music really flowed through her entire body.

Delacey has worked with artists like Halsey and Demi Lovato, co-writing some of their most popular songs. Delacey has been releasing her own music for 6 years now, and she shared a few stories about some of her deeply meaningful songwriting at the show.

“I like to talk about my songwriting a little too much. But this next song I wrote, my grandmother, who I was super, super close to, is no longer with us. And she always used to tell me whenever I was going through heartbreak or grief, or bad times in my career, when I wanted to quit, like every other day. I’d call her up and I’d vent to her, and she would be like,
“Just put your lipstick on and go outside and be fabulous.” She’s not here to tell me that anymore, but I wrote this song as a reminder to myself” before playing her song, “Lipstick”. She also shared a story about how her song “Boy With the Blues”, “I wrote about a particular person that I always seem to fall in love with, a sad boy, and I love them and they’re amazing, but no matter how hard I try I always attract them. But this is for all of the sad boys in the audience tonight.”

Before leaving the stage, Delacey shared a heartfelt message to the crowd, “You guys are the best audience, so thank you. Who’s excited for X Ambassadors tonight? They put on such a good show, seriously, you guys. Those of you who haven’t seen them yet, you’re in for a treat, and also just they’re the coolest guys ever, and I want to say thank you to them for bringing me on tour with them, because I wouldn’t be here right now in front of you guys, and I’m really honored.”
X Ambassadors

X Ambassadors’ energetic performance was unlike any other show I’ve ever seen. From the very moment the band came out onto the stage playing their hit song, “Jungle.” Everyone in the crowd was jumping and dancing along. The energy was electric. Lead singer Sam Harris started the show by talking a bit about the tour.

“Salt Lake, are you feeling good?! That’s the Salt Lake City we know and love. We are X Ambassadors. Thank you so much for having us here with you tonight to celebrate 10 years of VHS, our first record, ten years ago. It has flown on by, and dragged on by sometimes, but mostly flown, soared! It’s a night we’re soaring. This record meant so much to us. I mean it was what probably introduced us to a lot of you and made it so that we are still here to this day on the stage. So tonight we are playing the whole thing.” This made the audience cheer wildly, as some of their top hits are from the VHS album.

Harris then went on to say “2015, back then, I clearly did not have have such a high opinion of myself since I wrote this song about you, such a piece of sh*t, I still feel like that every once and a while, but you know like a fine wine, am I right?” before introducing and playing the song Lowlife. It’s clear that this song was very impactful on Harris and the rest of the band.

The New York based brothers (Sam Harris, lead vocals, and Casey Harris, keyboardist) were joined by childhood friend and guitarist, Noah Feldshuh ,to form the band X Ambassadors. The inter-band bonds are very strong with X Ambassadors, and it adds an extra sense of family love to the performance and how they interact with each other.

The crowd loved X Ambassadors, especially when they played the hit, “Unsteady”. Couples in the crowd were swaying along to the song together, and others were singing along to the lyrics. The whole crowd felt the song to their core. Sam’s voice was like listening to a choir sing, almost echoing off the walls; it was magical. The performance of “Unsteady” was immediately followed by their most popular hit and underdog anthem, “Renegades,” which the crowd, of course, knew every single word to. The young kids in the audience grew up listening to the song; I myself remember it being played on the radio. It was a very magical moment to hear a song played often in day to day life to be played live right in front of your eyes.
