It was hard to believe, but we reached day four of Kilby Block Party. We’ve seen so much so far. And yet we were thirsty for more great music. The final day brought together a diverse lineup of artists, including Justice, TV on the Radio, Suki Waterhouse, Real Estate, Orla Gartland, and Poolhouse, delivering an eclectic mix of performances that captivated the audience.
The weather started off terribly rainy. But that did not kill anyone’s spirits. In fact, people were dancing in the rain to their favorite bands. It was the happiest I’ve seen people dancing all weekend. Something about the rain makes people want to dance and sing. It made me happy that the weather didn’t sour anyone’s experience.
The attendance started off less than all the other days combined at the start, but it slowly built back up once it became sunny and it was getting closer to Suki Waterhouse and the headliners. Though the attendance started off slow, it was still a killer day at the festival.
Poolhouse

Opening the day’s performances for me, indie pop band Poolhouse set an energetic tone with their upbeat and catchy tunes. Fans gathered around the Mountain Stage in their raincoats and ponchos. Their lively set was a hit among early attendees and helped kick off the final day with enthusiasm.

Orla Gartland

Irish singer-songwriter Orla Gartland captivated the crowd with her heartfelt pop-folk songs and engaging stage presence. Her performance resonated with many, showcasing her growth as an artist. This was Orla Gartland’s first American festival she’s ever played and her first time performing in Utah.

Indie rock band Real Estate offered a laid-back yet engaging performance, featuring their signature jangly guitars and melodic tunes. Their set was a favorite among fans of mellow rock and added a nostalgic feel to the festival’s finale.

Suki Waterhouse

British singer-songwriter and actress Suki Waterhouse brought her ethereal pop sound to the stage, enchanting the audience with her smooth vocals and introspective lyrics. Her set added a touch of elegance to the day’s lineup.

TV On The Radio

Brooklyn-based alternative rock band TV on the Radio headlined the Lake Stage on the final day, delivering a dynamic set that showcased their signature blend of experimental rock and electronic elements. Their performance was a highlight for many attendees, marking a memorable end to the festival.

I think TV on the Radio played the best set of the day, maybe the weekend in my opinion. Their energy was insanely high, they played all of their hits and everyone danced and sang. It was bittersweet because it was as if everyone knew it was nearing the end of the festival, but we still gave it our all!
TV on the Radio were also the only band/artist that weekend to mention anything about Palestine as they also had a bass guitar with the Palestinian flag and the bassist wore a sash with Palestine on it. After they ended their last song they ended up saying “Free Palestine” afterwards and everyone loved it!
One of the major highlights was when TV on the Radio played a song called “The Wrong Way” and it’s the first time they have played that song since 2014.

Justice

It was impossible to believe. But we reached the final band of Kilby Block Party. Fans joined together at the Kilby Stage to give Justice all they had left. Justice did not disappoint their fans. Their set and lighting/visuals were INSANE. It was a good way to bring dance music/rave music to everyone in attendance. It was mind-blowing!

Overall, the final day of the Kilby Block Party was a fitting conclusion to a memorable festival, offering a diverse range of performances that appealed to a wide audience. This was the biggest Kilby Block Party yet. I don’t know how they’ll ever top this weekend. But I imagine they’ll sure try. And I won’t be surprised if they do it. See you all next year!
