When I received the announcement that Heart’s Royal Flush Tour would need to be postponed due to lead singer, Ann Wilson’s cancer diagnosis, I wondered if I’d ever get to see Heart in concert again. More important than the band, the music, and the tour, I hoped that Wilson would fully recover. Cancer is such a scary thing, and well, you just never know. I was delighted to hear see the rescheduled dates and see that Heart would be returning to Utah in 2025.

Squeeze

It’s starting to feel a little different up at Red Butte Garden lately. The temperature is getting a little cooler, and the wind is whipping a little more. Fall is near. What isn’t different is the continued excellence in the quality of the bands and their performances. The 2021 Red Butte Garden Outdoor Concert Series has been fantastic so far and with the shows, they have lined up to finish out the series, it’s only going to get better. The home stretch started on Thursday, September 2 with 80s and New Wave icons, Squeeze. With Colin Hay of Men at Work fame supporting. While these two bands may have made their mark in the great era of 80s music, neither has slowed down by any means.

UCR INTERVIEW: Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze

Legendary and eternally hipster U.K. band Squeeze bring their Nomadband Tour to Red Butte Garden Amphitheater on Thursday, September 2. Utah Concert Review had the opportunity to interview Squeeze’s lead guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist, Glenn Tilbrook. We had a really enjoyable conversation. Hope you enjoy it!

Squeeze September 7, 2019, Deer Valley

I forget sometimes how iconic a band Squeeze is. Of course, they have hits in the US like “Tempted” and “Pulling Mussels (From the Shell). But they are much more than their hits. At one point Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford were considered “Heirs to Lennon and McCartney’s throne”. And while that correlation may or may not have taken place, the British rock band have definitely left their mark over the last 45 years. Squeeze was the perfect band to close out this summer’s Deer Valley Concert Series.
