PVRIS August 25, 2021 The Complex

I’ve been a fan of PVRIS for years now. I first saw them on a Vans Warped Tour in 2013. From then on I’ve seen PVRIS eight times and I haven’t grown tired in the slightest. Every single time I’ve seen them it’s always been something new. Whether it’s Lynn’s hairstyles, a new era of the band’s sound, being different from before, it’s always new and always amazes me. I knew that night wasn’t going to be any different.

Atmosphere w/ Cypress Hill August 27, 2021 U of U Health Plaza at Rio Tinto Stadium

I’ve never been to a concert at the U of U Health Plaza at Rio Tinto Stadium before, located in Sandy Utah. But on Friday August 27th, they had the perfect lineup for an absolutely amazing outdoor concert experience. With it being 18 months since the last Atmosphere concert in Utah, fans lined the corner of the stadium with anticipation to start the night far before doors opened. I had a mishap with my ticket but the staff was incredibly kind and resolved the issue quickly just in time for me to enjoy the first set performed by the amazing Z-Trip.

SLC Twilight: Thundercat August 26, 2021 Gallivan Center

The Salt Lake Twilight series continued its impressive 2021 lineup with Thundercat and Remi Wolf at the Gallivan Center. The show was sold out so I made sure to arrive early. I grabbed a bite to eat at one of the rotating local food trucks that the event brings out. Many people had the same idea as me and quickly filled the venue well before the main act.

Trombone Shorty & Gov’t Mule August 23, 2021 Red Butte Garden

It’s a beautiful night for live music. It’s the middle of the week and some soulful, funky, jazz music is just the perfect refreshment from the busy work week. The weather was perfect and it was a packed house as soon as we got there. I truly enjoy Red Butte Garden. People bring their chairs, blankets, wine, beer, and all sorts of snacks. It’s a family affair when you attend a show at this venue. I would say this is the perfect place to bring the family together to enjoy live music and food.

Dierks Bentley August 13, 2021 USANA Amphitheater

Review By: Justin Lagman

The Beers On Me Tour kicked off in Salt Lake City, August 13th, 2021 and it was a packed house. It was a beautiful summer night and I was excited to immerse myself in something new. My knowledge of country music and culture is very little. Coming into this I’ve never listened to Dierks Bentley and it was something I was ready to experience.

Ritt Momney August 13, 20201 Utah State Fairpark

Review By: Breanna Downs

When I tell you that I was excited about this concert, it would be a severe understatement. I have been a fan of Ritt Momney for a few years now, and I couldn’t wait to see him perform for the 13th Annual DIY festival in Salt Lake City! The DIY festival was created to cultivate an environment that inspires and promotes local artists. I was impressed with the variety of artists that participated in the festival. I loved the inclusive atmosphere that was provided for each person to display their work.

Native Leaves July 30, 2021 The Depot

On Friday, July 30, 2021, The Depot was packed with people. The venue was filled with love and good vibes because of Utah’s own local band, Native Leaves. Native Leaves are a reggae band from the 801 who know how to throw a show! The night consisted of some fantastic openers,  along with the beautiful Analea Brown who truly knows how to own the stage. Her beautiful voice paired with some lovely cultural dancing by her and her crew were so fun to watch! She had the crowd dancing and vibing along with her. She did an amazing job at setting the tone and preparing the crowd for the headliners of the night.

A Retrospective: JOSEPH March 11, 2020 The Commonwealth Room

As I pulled into The Commonwealth Room parking lot on March 11, 2020, to cover JOSEPH, I could already tell things were different.  So different that I parked within the first three spots next to the venue.

Just a little under a week earlier I was at The Commonwealth Room. I was watching The Lone Bellow perform in front of a sold-out room.  There were a couple of masks being worn, but the place was packed and people were standing shoulder to shoulder.  I walked up to the box office to get my ticket and photo pass and asked, “How’s it looking in there?”.  “Well, it’s definitely not a full house.  This show was almost sold out.”  It was clear to me that people were already beginning to practice what we would hear so much in the following year, “social distancing”.
