Over the last few years, we have had a great run of Broadway Stars in concert here in Utah.  We’ve had amazing vocalists such as Jeremy Jordan, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jessica Vosk, Ben Platt,  Kara Lindsay, Kristin Chenoweth, Bernadette Peters, and, of course, just last month, Sutton Foster and Kelli O’Hara. Utah loves musical theater and its stars.  Anticipation was as high as I’ve ever seen it for Tony Award-winner Aaron Tveit.  He performed a sold-out show at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre in Orem with the Utah Valley Orchestra.

Few bands in modern country music embody harmony quite like Little Big Town, and their recent concert performance proved why they’ve remained one of the genre’s most respected and beloved acts for over two decades. With a career spanning hits such as “Boondocks,” “Girl Crush,” and “Pontoon,” the four-part vocal powerhouse—Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Phillip Sweet—delivered an evening filled with soaring harmonies, heartfelt storytelling, and a joyful celebration of music’s power to connect.

It’s 9:00 pm on a hot August night, and an amped up and diverse audience are greeted with a sombre and moody synthesized soundtrack as the lights go dim. A monstrous banner facade with the band’s logo in massive red lettering is hanging from the rigging, completely shrouding any view of the heavy metal icons as they take to the stage. It is clear who the hardcore and veteran fans are in the audience as they recognize the eerie musical interlude. On all 3 amphitheatre screens, the masses are treated to raw home video footage of the band’s original members in their earlier years. The editing is rough and dizzying as the video rapidly cuts between each of the 4 young men in their prime partying, rocking out, and goofing off. Two of the four young rockers are brothers. Both of them are now gone.

One of Utah’s favorites, Jake Scott, joined by MaRynn Taylor, returned to Salt Lake City on Thursday, July 31st, for his Live in ‘25 Tour! Fans of all ages flooded The Union Events Center, excited for his return to Salt Lake City!

This show was a fun one to have on my roster because I think I’ve photographed and reviewed every one of Jake Scott’s shows in Utah up until this point! From opening up for Ben Rector, his own show, his album release concert, and even his surprise appearance at Russell Dickerson’s concert this past April – I’ve been there! He’s now the artist I’ve photographed the most, so it was an honor to be there to cover the show!
