Lucy Darling delivered a show that blurred the lines between magic, comedy, and character-driven theater. The Eccles Theater’s polished design and intimate seating created the perfect setting for a performer whose strength lies not just in illusion, but in personality and presence.
As much as we love comedy here at Utah Concert Review, we don’t always get to cover comedians. I think they’re afraid that we’ll spoil their jokes. But we would never do such a thing. We’ve always felt like the comedians tell the jokes better than we ever could, so we’ll leave it to them. If there ever was a comedian’s tour that suited what we do best, it’s Fred Armisen’s “Comedy For Musicians But Everyone is Welcome” tour.
We are excited to welcome Nate Bargatze to his first-ever comedy show at the Delta Center (currently known as Vivint Arena) on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 21 at 10 am. Please find Bargatze’s bio below.
Hailed this year as “The Nicest Man in Stand-Up,” by The Atlantic Magazine and a “Rising Star,” by CBS Morning, 2021 Grammy nominated comedian and podcaster Nate Bargatze is selling out shows across the world.
An Old Hickory, Tennessee native, Bargatze followed in the showbiz footsteps of his father, a former clown turned world class magician, who’s influence is seen on his’s 2015 debut Comedy Central special, Full Time Magic and his debut album, Yelled at By a Clown, which reached #1 on the iTunes Comedy Charts and remained on Billboard’s Top Ten Comedy Charts for weeks.
Finding humor in the every day is easier said than done, but Miss North Carolina 1963 (better known as Jeanne Robertson) makes it look like a breeze. This isn’t a product simply of age experience, it’s the result of a finely-tuned analytical perspective sharpened by wit and just the right amount of wackiness—specifically, the type of wacky that decorated the lobby of the Eccles Theater with signs encouraging the night’s attendees to enter a drawing to win a “JEANNE ROBERTSON SIGNED AND SAT-ON ROCKING CHAIR.”
