Bluegrass legends Alison Krauss and Union Station, featuring Jerry Douglas, have reunited. They hit the road for the first time in a decade. Earlier this year, they released their eighth studio album, “Arcadia.” They brought their tour of the same name to Red Butte Garden Amphitheater on July 25. I can’t think of a better pairing of band and venue. I have seen Alison Krauss before, so I knew that this would be an amazing night of music. However, seeing her with Union Station is an altogether different experience. One that I knew I wanted to check off the list. Am I ever glad I did.

On July 22, 2025, AJR brought their “Somewhere in the Sky Tour” to Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre, and the energy was electric from the very beginning. The pop band made up of brothers, Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met, drew in fans of all ages, including many teens, young adults, and families. Fans were decked out in AJR merch, and I spotted quite a few trapper hats just like the one that lead singer Jack is known for. Before the music even started, long merch lines stretched across the plaza, and excited chatter about past tours and hoped-for songs filled the air.

Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre was packed all the way to the fences for a really fun night of Country Music. Keith Urban brought his “High and Alive World Tour” to Utah and he brought some friends with him. Chase Matthew, Alana Springsteen, and Karly Scott Collins filled out the lineup. Giving Country fans a variety of vocalists and musicians at varying degrees of their careers. And what would a Keith Urban concert in Utah be without some weather concerns?

Summertime in Utah brings on the opening of a lot of outdoor venues and concert series that we don’t normally get to attend during the colder seasons. Granary Live, being one of the newest venues in Utah, has booked some exciting bands to perform at their 7,500 capacity venue, with Caamp being one of them. With the show being completely sold out, it was sure to be a very exciting night.

Seven high-energy bands took the stage for the idobi Radio Summer School Tour Summer School Tour at the Union Event Center. Fans of each of the bands came out to support their favorite acts, as well as staying to see new favorite bands and artists performing. From the visuals matching each artist’s aesthetic to the lighting, and of course, the music, Summer School was a magical night for fans.

When the 2025 Salt Lake City Twilight Concert Series was announced, there was a lot of excitement for the July 17, 2025, show with Sierra Ferrell at Library Square in downtown Salt Lake City. Ferrell was last seen at Rice-Eccles Stadium as a support artist for Post Malone’s Big Ass Tour. I remember seeing her at that concert and hearing her incredible voice, hoping she’d be playing a Salt Lake City headlining show soon. I knew I had to be downtown for this show.

Collective Soul

Back in January, Collective Soul frontman Ed Roland revealed to the audience at The Union Events Center in downtown Salt Lake City that Collective Soul would be heading on tour for the summer with their contemporaries, the band Live. The crowd reacted much the same as I did, excited and already anticipating what that tour would be like. They were joined by Our Lady Peace on what has been titled, “The Summer Unity Tour.” It was another hot night at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre, but fans of the late 90s early 2000s showed up to see these bands do their thing.

Barry Manilow

The legendary singer, songwriter, performer, Barry Manilow, appeared at the Maverik Center in West Valley City on July 14. The show was billed as “MANILOW, The Last West Valley City Concert”. Does that mean it’s specifically his last stop in West Valley? Or was this his final tour stop in Utah? The 82-year-old performer showed little signs of slowing down. But I’d imagine he’s having to pace out his tours, and this could very well be the last time he performed in this state. We didn’t want to take the chance, so we made to to do what we could to cover this show. It’s almost impossible to know Barry Manilow’s music. So I knew I would know the songs at the concert. But I did not expect the concert to be quite the way it was.

Lyle Lovett

Lyle Lovett is known the world over as a renowned Country Music singer and songwriter. But to me, he is much more than that. I think he’s one of the more unique artists we have in this generation. Yes, he does sing Country. And so many of his hits have come under the Country Music genre. But he is versatile in a way that is so much different than his Country contemporaries. His voice and style are so unique. When you hear a song, you know it’s a Lyle Lovett song.

Lovett is a performer whom I hadn’t given as much attention to as I should have when he was at his peak. But as his career has reached legendary status, it’s been a pleasure to become more familiar with this one of one. Lyle Lovett and his Large Band stopped by Sandy Amphitheater on a day fitting of a Texas gentleman.

The Strike

On June 28, 2025, The Strike closed out their five-stop North American tour with a high-energy performance at Utah’s newest concert venue, the Rio Tinto Kenecott Stage at America First Square in South Jordan. The venue in Daybreak is part of the new ballpark that is home to the Salt Lake Bees. As a photographer and concert lover, I’ve been to countless venues across the state—and I can confidently say this one is a standout. It was Utah Concert Review’s first time covering a show at the venue, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.
