Summer concerts in downtown Salt Lake City always carry a unique atmosphere, and Old Crow Medicine Show brought exactly the kind of lively, feel-good performance that fit the Salt Lake Twilight Concert Series perfectly. Surrounded by the energy of the city and a crowd eager for an evening of live music, the veteran Americana group delivered a set that celebrated traditional roots music while proving just how vibrant it remains in a live setting. Their mix of bluegrass, folk, old-time string music, and country created a performance that was both nostalgic and exciting, reminding fans why the band has remained a favorite on the road for so many years.

It felt very fitting to be at an outdoor concert on the evening of the Summer Solstice.  But not just any outdoor concert. That alone would have been great.  But Old Crow Medicine show performing at the Sandy Amphitheater on the eve of a full Strawberry Moon on the Summer Solstice was an evening of perfection for an avid concertgoer like myself.  Old Crow Medicine Show returned to Utah just shy of a year since their last stop here in July 2023. The band would be celebrating 25 years of their album Jubilee.

Old Crow Medicine Show opened the 2023 Deer Valley Concert Series at the Snow Park Outdoor Concert Series a the Deer Valley Resort in Park City on July 13, 2023.  It was a perfect evening to have the Americana band in Park City.  It was a very hot day in the Salt Lake and Utah valleys.  Park City is always a great place to escape to when it gets too hot. It’s always cooler.  The night air was crisp, but the music on stage was as hot as the day was.  Last year the concert series had a limited run so I was unable to make it to a show last year.  The moment I parked my car and began walking to the venue, I knew as I took in the beautiful scenery that it was so good to be back.
