Beloved Seattle band The Head and The Heart have embarked on tour in support of the 15-year anniversary of their RIAA Certified Platinum self-titled debut album. They are playing Sandy Amphitheater on August 22. We had the opportunity to talk with Kenny Hensley (Piano) earlier in the week. We discuss how he met the other members of the band, celebrating the first album, and much more.

GRAMMY-nominated rock band NEEDTOBREATHE is set to play Sandy Amphitheater on August 15. The band recently released their powerful new album, The Long Surrender.

We here at Utah Concert Review have been Debra Fotheringham fans for quite some time. Most of our history with Debra and her music has been seeing her perform as one of the many singers in the Salt Lake City-based Americana supergroup, The Lower Lights. Despite the multitude of vocalists in that group, Debra stands out every time we’ve seen her.
Debra has released three solo albums. With her last LP, The Darkness and The Sun, being released in 2017, there has been much anticipation for a fourth album. Well, the wait is finally over. Award-winning, Portland-based, Bluegrass/Americana band, Never Come Down will be playing the Egyptian Theater in Park City on April 11 and 12.
Never Come Down have toured internationally and found acclaim at festivals such as Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Iceland Airwaves, Americanafest, FreshGrass, and RockyGrass.

Utah Concert Review: I’ve only been in cover bands myself, and it’s a fun hobby. But even in that, there’s nothing like that moment where you just gel as a band. So I can only imagine what that’s like when you’re making original music, coming up with your own stuff, your own style, or what you’re doing on your own instrument. Give me a sense of what that was like for you guys when you started just to feel that feeling as a band.
Two years ago, I witnessed Broadway star, Jessica Vosk captivate a capacity crowd at The Noorda Center For The Performing Arts on the campus of Utah Valley University. Vosk starred as Elphaba in Wicked, the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Lincoln Center, and re-created the role of Fruma Sarah in the most recent Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof.
She has also starred in productions of Waitress and a personal favorite, Chess (Jessica permitted me to share that she will be singing a song from this show! A reason in itself to attend!!!). at the amazing 12,000-capacity Muny in St. Louis. Jessica Vosk is returning to The Noorda on Saturday, September 21 at 7 PM. UCR: As you know, Utah loves having you guys out here. You’re back out on the road with REO Speedwagon. Do you determine by tour who closes the show? Or is it a show by show decision?
She & Him’s seventh studio album is a loving, LP-length tribute to one of the greatest living American songwriters and singers, Brian Wilson. Melt Away: A Tribute to Brian Wilson finds Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward diving deep into the legendary artist’s extensive songbook, offering fascinating and delectable new spins on time-honored classics and overlooked gems alike. These fourteen covers are infused with the familiar magic that She & Him fans know and love, opening a new window into Wilson’s iconic catalog. Wilson even features on a song with Zooey and M. Ward for the album, “Do It Again.” The band have enjoyed a friendship, and mutual appreciation, with Wilson over the years and She & Him was previously a guest vocalist on his 2015 album, No Pier Pressure. Recently, the band released “Darlin’”, the lead track and video from Melt Away.

Pop singer-songwriter, producer, multiinstrumentalist, and recent Elektra Records signee Jake Scott will open for indie hitmaker Ben Rector on The Joy of Music: Live U.S. tour. The tour stops off in Utah for two shows at the Sandy Amphitheater on May 18 & 19. Scott will provide direct support for the first leg of dates, which wraps in Oklahoma City on Sunday, June 5.

Legendary and eternally hipster U.K. band Squeeze bring their Nomadband Tour to Red Butte Garden Amphitheater on Thursday, September 2. Utah Concert Review had the opportunity to interview Squeeze’s lead guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist, Glenn Tilbrook. We had a really enjoyable conversation. Hope you enjoy it!
In mid-1968 a band of four dedicated musicians from El Cerrito, California skyrocketed to fame with their debut single “Suzie Q.” It took 10 years of gigging to get there, but by the time “Suzie Q” peaked at #11 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) was an unstoppable force in rock’n’roll. Over the next 2 years, they released 11 million-selling hit singles and 5 studio albums, they toured the world as headliners, including an appearance at Woodstock in 1969, and were ultimately inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993.
In the decades that followed CCR’s 2 year reign as the #1 band in the world, Creedence drummer Doug “Cosmo” Clifford focused his creative energy on producing album projects. His concept was to assemble a top shelf mix of players, write an album’s worth of original songs, then record, mix and master each album. When a project was completed, the masters were archived and safely stored in Cosmo’s Vault until the time was right to release them. Fast forward to 2021 and Cosmo has retrieved those masters and will be releasing them one album at a time on his own label, Cliffsong Records. The first release will be For All The Money In The World by Clifford / Wright.
