If you’re in search of some dynamic and electrifying female powerhouses in the pop music scene, look no further than Em Beilhold’s current tour with Madelline (“with two L’s”). I caught them both at The Commonwealth Room in SLC on Em Beihold’s first headlining tour! I’ll admit, I didn’t know anything about either of the bands until the night of the show. But I admired the artistry and dedication of both of these beautiful women.

This was my first time at The Commonwealth Room. I absolutely loved my experience! The stage manager, Hal, went above and beyond to familiarize me with everything I needed to know for my first time doing photography there. The security team was kind, the stagehands were efficient and the sound was phenomenal all night.

Okay, back to Em and Madelline. These two women not only have incredible musical talents but they also share the ability to connect with their audience on a deeply emotional level. Their lyrics are honest, heartfelt, and relatable, drawing listeners in and creating an unforgettable musical experience for their fans. From start to finish, they delivered performances that were both electrifying and heartfelt.

Madelline

Madelline’s stage presence was magnetic. Effortlessly drawing the audience into every note and lyric. She has a special talent for engaging with her fans. From taking selfies and videos on their phones to getting off stage and into the crowd herself. Her energy was contagious and enthusiastically matched by the audience through the entirety of her set.

Em Beihold

Em Beihold’s band provided a powerful instrumental introduction. Building anticipation in every fan with each kick of the excitement-inducing bass drum. By the time Em took the stage, the audience was ready and excited for her set.

Em delivered each song with passion and grace and left the audience hanging on every word. She moved seamlessly between singing energetic anthems and playing intimate ballads on the keys. Em Beihold showcased her versatility as an artist. The setlist featured a mix of clear fan favorites and some songs that are most likely to become favorites after hearing them live.

The crowd loved hearing Beihold perform “Until I Found You”. A song she dueted with Stephen Sancez. Another audience favorite was “Groundhog Day”. It was one of those songs that really got the crowd moving. “City of Angels” and “Maybe Life Is Good” were some of my personal favorites. As I looked through the crowd I could see the audience connect with particular songs. There was a genuine connection between Em and her fans.

I’m happy that I was able to be in The Commonwealth Room to see Em Beihold’s first headlining stop in Salt Lake City. Her performance along with Madelline’s made for an entertaining night. As Em closed out her set with “Numb Little Bug”, I couldn’t help but think that this won’t be her last time headlining a tour.
